Provision of Services by the Assistance System

The Assistance System for Victims of Human Trafficking helps and guides clients to access the appropriate services.

If the client has a municipality of residence in Finland

Clients who have a municipality of residence in Finland receive services from their wellbeing services county. Residents of Helsinki receive services from the City of Helsinki and the HUS Group. The NAS refers clients to services when necessary and cooperates with the wellbeing services county, the City of Helsinki, and the HUS Group.

Wellbeing services counties and the City of Helsinki can apply for compensation from the ELY Centre for support measures provided to clients due to their victimization by human trafficking.

Clients receive guidance and advice from the NAS regarding the rights of victims of human trafficking. This may include, for example, guidance and advice related to criminal proceedings or residence permits.

If the client is an asylum seeker

Clients residing in Finland as asylum seekers receive their basic services from the reception centre where they are registered. The NAS works closely with the reception centre to support the client. The client also receives guidance and advice from the NAS regarding the rights of victims of human trafficking. This may include, for example, guidance and advice related to criminal proceedings or residence permits.

If the client does not have a municipality of residence in Finland

The NAS provides services to clients who do not have a municipality of residence in Finland.
